One of the best parts of earning a degree in business management is that the career opportunities for graduates are broad and varied. Whether you want to start your own business, spend your time selling, improve processes and organization structure, or work directly with customers, there is a path for you.
Here are some of the most common industries that business management graduates pursue:
Working in sales is one of the most common career paths with this degree, and it can offer extraordinary earning potential. If you are confident, skilled in negotiation, and like working with people, this might be an option for you. Depending on your level of experience, you may start as a sales representative or move right into management.
Are you a process-oriented person? As a client services manager, part of your responsibility would be to develop and implement customer service procedures to maximize efficiency. You would also train your staff to follow these guidelines and strive to improve your customer service by improving communication, resolving issues, and streamlining processes.
This is a quickly growing field, and earning a degree in business management would help prepare you for working in real estate. As with sales, you'll succeed here if you take pride in your people skills. Once you gain more experience, you could take on a management position and help your team members find the right opportunities and close more deals.
If you're a natural problem-solver, then you may want to consider a career in consulting. Sometimes, organizations bring in outside help to work through challenges with their operations, human resources, marketing, sales, or any number of areas. If you're particularly interested in one field, you could play a consulting role to companies in need.
Just as the career paths you can follow with a business management degree are widely varied, so is the earning potential for each field. Here's a quick snapshot of average salaries for some of the more common career paths:
